Many people dream of becoming a photographer. The idea of being a self-employed photographer can be a very appealing one.

I mean who would not want to be their own boss and choose their own working hours. Getting paid to do a job that you love.

However, the photography market is oversaturated, with fierce competition in most sectors.

To succeed you will have to be 100 % committed to mastering your craft and spend a large amount of your time promoting yourself and your work.

The majority of photographers within the industry are employed on a freelance basis, full-time salary jobs are few and far between.

The hard reality is that you will spend the majority of your time running your business and only a small amount of time creating photos.

But said, if you are ready for the challenge there is nothing more rewarding than running a business, around something that you are passionate about.
